Kurt Cobain

Kurt's full name is Kurt Donald Cobain. He was born January 20, 1967 in Aberdeen, Washington. And he died April 5, 1994 in Seattle, Washington. He is mostly known as the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter in the  rock band Nirvana. Kurt started the grungeband Nirvana in 1988. I 1992 Kurt got married to Courtney Love. Same year Courtney gave birth to their first child, a girl named Frances Bean Cobain. Kurt never really got comfortable either as a rockstar or a father. In this period he was heroin addict.

Career

Kurt Cobain started his career in 1982, where he was an American musician. He was a frontline figure in band  the rockNirvana, as lead singer, guitarist and primary songwriter. He seems to be one of the most important musician, and in the 1990´s was he the most important musical personality.

Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic and Chad Channing. Channing leaved the band a few years later, and was replaced by Dave Grohl. The band published their first album “Bleach”, before they got their big breakthrough in the autumn of 1991 with the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and the second album “Nevermind”.

Cobain began being uncomfortable and frustrated, and with his personal issues was he often a center for the media.
He challenged Nirvana's audience with it’s final album “In Utero” in 1993. It didn't match the sales figure of the album “Nevermind”, but was still a critical and commercial success.

Childhood
Kurt was growing up in a small logging town. He showed interest in art and music, and already in kindergarten he showed his talent at drawing. He also learned to play piano by ear and enjoyed a little drum kit his parents had given him. Cobain also played little league baseball. Kurt sometimes spent time with his little sister Kim, who was born in 1971.

After his parents divorced when he was 9, Kurt became withdrawn. Kurt lived with his father after the divorce. On the weekends, he visited his mother and sister. His father remarried with a lady named Jenny, who had 2 children. Kurt believed that his father always took his stepmother's side, and favored her children and his half-brother Chad, who was born in 1979. He got a guitar from his uncle, and it inspired him to start playing the instrument. He started experimenting with drugs in his midteens.
In 1982, he left his father's place and bounced around from relative to relative for several months. After that he went living with his mother who was with her boyfriend Pat O'Connor. (They later married.)

Drug problems

On a break during the tour with Nirvana, Kurt spent some time in Europe with his family. On March 4, 1994, in his hotel room in Rome, he attempted suicide, by taking an overdose of drugs. Love woke up and discovered that Kurt was in trouble. They were fast to get him to the hospital in a coma. While official reports said that it was an accidental overdose, Cobain had clearly meant to kill himself, having left a suicide note.

When they returned to the United States, Cobain became a hermit (he lived alone), spending much of his time line and high. Love called the police on March 18 to report that Kurt was suicidal. He had locked himself inside a closet with guns and some medication, according to the police report.
After an interview with Kurt and Love, it was determined that he had not threatened to kill himself, but Love called the authorities because he had locked himself in and would not open the door. Love knew that Kurt had access to guns, so for their safety, the police took the guns and the medications.

Not long after Love had an intervention for Cobain, trying to convince him to get off drugs. Love traveled to Los Angeles after the event to try to get clean herself. Kurt eventually checked into a chemical dependency clinic in Los Angeles, but left after a few days
